One Year Ago...

One Year ago, Cameron and I were in despair. In May of 2011, we turned down a birth mother who had chosen us due in August because it didn't feel right, and we were contacted by two other birth mothers. One of which, was Kelly, a mother looking for a forever family for her three year old daughter. It felt so right! We went to Texas and started the paperwork. When we got back to Idaho the end of May, we thought we were going to be parents and would bringing Paightyn home the beginningi of June. When Kelly changed her mind the first of June, we were so depressed and confused. Soon after, the second birth mother changed her mind about her adoption plan. We suddenly had no prospects of a child in the near future, and I remember just asking God "Why?" It was a dark time for us. Well, little did we know, but our son Jacoby was conceived right around this time. The Lord works in mysterious ways. By the time Christina chose us to be the parents of her unborn baby boy, we had grown spiritually and our hopes and dreams for a child had matured. We didn't feel desperate or unsure. We were calm and at peace. Looking back to one year ago, we needed that experience in Texas to appreciate our beautiful son and the unselfish choice his birth mother made. What a gift she gave us! We love you, Christina.

Memorial weekend camping and other pics

We went on our first camping trip with a baby this past weekend and boy was it an adventure! We went with Bridget and Marcus, Cameron's sister and her husband, and they also have a Golden Retriever named Ace. We went camping before on Memorial Weekend 2010 above Bone, ID and it was freezing cold and rained most of the time. You'd think we'd learn... When Grandma and Grandpa Foster heard we were going tent camping with a baby this early in the year, they offered to let us use their camp trailer. Thank goodness! The weather was terrible! It rained/hailed Friday and Saturday and started snowing Saturday night. It snowed all Sunday morning and was freezing temperatures. We decided we had better get out of there before the ground thawed and we were really stuck so we left a day early on Sunday afternoon. We absolutely had a blast though! We got to enjoy the outdoors a little bit and got to play games, watch movies, and just relax. We would not have survived in a tent, though, so thank you Bruce and Kathy!
Oakley was covered in snow in ice riding in the back of our pickup. I felt so bad for him!
The road on the way out. Other Pictures: I just had to post some randome pictures of the last several weeks. Enjoy!

3 months old!

Jacoby is now three months old and I have a ton of pictures to post. He is growing up so fast and has changed so much. He started smiling the end of April and it is so fun. He also really knows me and turns to stare at me even when others are holding him. I love it! He is now in size 3 diapers, which seem huge, but he was leaking through size two quite a bit. Jacoby is sleeping pretty good at night: he goes down about 8:30 after bath and rocking/singing and stays asleep until around 2 am. He drinks 6-7 ounces then is back asleep until 6 or 6:30. Hopefully soon he will sleep through the whole night. Cameron and I are now enjoying the nice weather and Cameron was so excited to get our raft out last night. We took a bunch of friends near Massacre Rock and my friend and I and our babies stayed behind to shuttle vehicles and start a fire for smores when everyone got back. We are looking forward to more camping and outside adventures this summer.
