Sleeping habits
This has been a wonderful week for many reasons. First of all, I've been at my parents' house for a whole week, which I probably have not done since I've been married. Last Saturday, my mom and I ran our annual "To Bone and Back" relay and our team got second in the womens' open division! I stayed through the week because Cameron went backpacking the first part of the week and then headed up to North Dakota on Wednesday. Our second trailor is finally done and ready to work so we hope the company Cameron works for will be able to work our second truck into the rotation up there.
Anyway, another reason to stay around here all week was that Vance's fiance, Lauren, had her bridal shower in the area on Wednesday. She's so wonderful and I'm so happy for my brother. It's been great to enjoy time with my little brother, Braden, and my parents here at home, and my mom and dad have LOVED all the extra time with Jacoby.
While I was here, I was determined to get Jacoby to sleep through the night. I know he's big enough to (he's about 18 lbs!), but just by habit, he's been waking up multiple times a night, expecting to either eat or get his pacifier put in. It's been so easy to get up and put his pacifier back in his mouth and then he falls back asleep. But I knew I wasn't doing him any favors by making him so dependent on his binkie. I decided to let him "cry it out" which I knew would be so hard so I wanted my mom's support. Last Saturday night, he cried for an hour and 20 minutes! It was so sad! After that is was 30 minutes, then 15 minutes, and so on. Finally last night, he slept through the entire night without waking up once! I fed him at 7:30 pm and he didn't wake up until 6 am! We were so happy to see each other and I felt so rested! I know he'll go through spurts where he doesn't do as well with teething, learning to crawl, etc, but I am just so glad I stuck it out and taught him to put himself back to sleep and stay asleep without my help. A huge milestone for parents!
