Kimber turned 2 months old on April 4th! She is growing up way too fast. On the 5th, she started drinking 6 oz of formula instead of 5 oz. She is sleeping for longer stretches at night, some nights 6 hours. It is so nice. At her 2 month dr appt, she weighed 11 lbs (50 percentile) and was 23 inches long (75 percentile). She has always sounded congested and full of mucous so I recently tried switching her to a soy formula for 5 days to see if she was intolerant to lactose. It did't help with the congestion, so I switched her back. Then she got diarrhea for 5 days+. Her doctor said if she is intolerant, the diarrhea would be a sign, not the congestion, so now I'm trying to decide if it is best to switch her back to soy or wait it out. Hmmm.
Jacoby is a precocious 2 year old who asks questions all the time and talks in full sentences. He says funny things and it is amazing what he has picked up from us. He tells Oakley, "come inside" in a high voice when he barks outside just like I do, he says "what you doing?" or "what you making?" to me a lot, and when I try to change his diaper, I ask him if he's soggy or poopy. He'll tell me "not yet mom" or he'll come tell me he is soggy in the middle of the day. He also likes to say "I'm still hungry!" as soon as he wakes up and close to lunch time and dinner time. Jacoby knows all the letters of the alphabet by sight and sound and can name a word that starts with each letter. He can count to ten but gets the letters mixed up. He even knows most of his colors! There are several other things he says, and we just love listening to him grow and learn so much.
Cameron was in North Dakota from March 9 to April 3. The first week I went to my parents' house and then the next two weeks I was home by myself. It was all right until about 5:00 pm. Kimber would always be hungry so I'd be trying to feed her and cook dinner at the same time because was Jacoby was starving too. Dinner time was rough and so was the evening from 7 to 8 when Kimber was having her fussy time (crying for no reason, whether I held her or not) and I had to get Jacoby bathed and in bed. Amazingly, though, I did it and patted myself on the back each night after they were asleep. As my cousin, Brittnee, said, "Whatever you have to do as a mom, you just do it."
I truly love having two kids, and I feel like being a mom is my true calling. I love little people and taking care of my house and I dread when they have to go to school. It is so fun having kids at home. Exhausting, yes, but so fun and rewarding.
